The Lagunilla Collector: An Urban Cocktail Auction

A tasting of Mexican urban cocktails at an antiques auction: each table bids for dishes and drinks, and its bidding skill decides how much it gets to taste.

The story

La Lagunilla is Mexico City's most famous antiques market, and cine de ficheras was a popular film genre of the 1970s and '80s set in cabarets.

Before the star lot, other items — dishes and cocktails — go under the hammer, each with its own story.

How it works

Each table or guest receives a budget to bid with. Their auction skills decide how many cocktails and dishes they'll taste.

The characters

  • The Host: a mysterious collector with a big find.
  • The Auctioneer: fast, theatrical and hard to impress.

What's included

  • Theatrical show with two characters
  • Tasting of urban cocktails and dishes
  • Play-money budget for the auction

What you take home

  • Discovering Mexican urban cocktails
  • Laughter and friendly competition
  • A nostalgic trip through popular culture

History and culture in every scene

As in all our experiences, the hosts' dialogue and the event's activities are written with real information about Mexican history and culture. You have fun and, without even noticing, you learn. Behind the humor there's culture: the dialogue explains the Mexican customs, traditions and characters that inspire the satire.

Format and customization

“The Lagunilla Collector” is one of our Mexican food tastings productions. We can adapt it to your venue, group size, menu and language, as a private event or on dates open to the public.
