Mexican Food Tastings in Mexico City

Guided Mexican food tastings in Mexico City: corn and nixtamal, chiles, moles, street snacks, cacao and traditional sweets, with the story behind every bite.

Why a tasting and not just a meal

Mexican cuisine is vast and deeply regional. A tasting lets you try many things in a short time and, above all, understand what you're eating: why corn is nixtamalized, how many chiles go into a mole, or how cacao went from currency to ritual drink.

Themes

  • Corn, the foundation: tortillas, tlacoyos, tamales and atole, and the nixtamalization process that makes them possible.
  • Chiles and salsas: fresh and dried chiles, mild to fiery, with salsas made in a molcajete.
  • Moles of Mexico: poblano, negro, amarillo, verde and pipián, and what each one tells about its region.
  • From cacao to chocolate: the pre-Hispanic drink, stone-ground chocolate and pairings.
  • Traditional sweets and breads: cocadas, ates, alegrías, conchas and seasonal breads.

How it works

A host guides every moment of the tasting, explains where the ingredients come from and answers questions. It can take place at our venue, your hotel or office, or be combined with a visit to a traditional market.

For locals too

Mexicans eat tortillas, chiles and moles every day, but rarely stop to understand where they come from. Our tastings are an entertaining way to get to know the cuisine they grew up with — its regions, ingredients and the stories that made it world heritage.

History and culture in every scene

In all our experiences, the hosts' dialogue and the event's activities are written with real information about Mexican history and culture: the origin of the food and drinks, historical figures and events, and the meaning of legends and traditions. You have fun and, without noticing, you learn.

Frequently asked questions

Are the tastings very spicy?

They don't have to be. We always offer mild options and explain the heat level before each bite.

Are there vegetarian options?

Yes. Mexican cuisine has a strong plant-based tradition built on corn, beans, squash, chiles and wild greens (quelites), and we adapt every theme.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, tastings are family friendly and great for school groups. For kids we adjust the spice and content.
