What is a blind dinner?
When we stop seeing, the other senses take over. The aroma of toasted chiles, the texture of a fresh tortilla or the crunch of a grasshopper (chapulín) become the stars. A blind dinner turns food into a game of discovery: guessing, talking and being surprised.
How our blind dinner works
- Welcome, eyes open. We explain how it works, the safety rules and ask about allergies.
- Blindfolds on. A host guides you to your seat at the table.
- The journey. Seven courses served one by one, with music, aromas and short stories about each ingredient's origin.
- The reveal. At the end you remove your blindfold and we discover the menu, its region and its history together.
Themes
- An offering of flavors: dishes from the Day of the Dead altar.
- From corn to mole: Mexican cuisine from Mesoamerica to the colonial era.
- Seven regions: a journey through Oaxaca, Yucatán, Puebla, Veracruz, Jalisco, the north and Mexico City.
- Blind pairing: each course paired with a mezcal, a Mexican wine or a traditional drink.
Who it's for
It works as well for a date as for a company event: when no one can see, people talk more and hierarchies disappear. That's why it's one of our favorite experiences for team building and for welcoming tour groups with something unforgettable.
For locals too
You don't need to be a visitor to be surprised. Many Mexicans discover flavors from their own cuisine they had never noticed at a blind dinner: the aroma of a chile, the texture of a wild green, or the story behind a grandmother's dish. It's a different plan for a date, a birthday or a night out with friends in Mexico City.
History and culture in every scene
In all our experiences, the hosts' dialogue and the event's activities are written with real information about Mexican history and culture: the origin of the food and drinks, historical figures and events, and the meaning of legends and traditions. You have fun and, without noticing, you learn.
