The Copper Forest: Carnitas and Monarch Butterflies

A carnitas tasting inspired by Santa Clara del Cobre and the monarch butterfly forests: a butterfly learns to speak and asks for help getting home.

The story

Every autumn, millions of monarch butterflies travel thousands of kilometers from Canada and the United States to the forests of Michoacán and the State of Mexico.

The guide sets carnitas — Michoacán's slow-cooked pork — in the center so everyone can get to work.

How it works

Over dinner, guests learn facts about the butterflies and use them to solve orientation riddles that help them get home.

The characters

  • The Guide: an expert on the forest and the butterflies.
  • The Butterfly: a brave traveler in need of help.

History and culture in every scene
