The Alux Union: “Building Permits”

An immersive dinner with a ritual: the aluxes go on a spiritual strike and your table must negotiate an offering to free dessert. Mayan humor and myth.

The story

Somewhere between the Mayan jungle and the manicured garden, a union of aluxes — ancestral sprites and spiritual building inspectors — is fed up with centuries of resorts, themed weddings and “eco-friendly” dinners. They've declared a spiritual strike: no dessert, no closing, no peace.

The Union Leader demands recognition, respect and an offering. The Mediating Shaman tries to prevent a bigger conflict and reminds guests of a Mayan truth: before you build, you honor; before you eat, you give thanks.

How it works

Each table becomes an improvised assembly. Using whatever is at hand — napkins, flowers, bread, fruit, leaves — it must build an offering, give it meaning and argue why the earth should forgive them.

The Shaman judges the intention; the Union Leader judges… everything else. Only accepted offerings get the union to lift the strike and release dessert. Nobody has to act: participation is natural and fun.

The characters

  • Alux Union Leader: hard hat, safety vest and more politics than mysticism; comic and political.
  • Mediating Shaman: ritual, narrative and conciliatory; translates the demands of the invisible world.

What's included

  • Two hosts in character
  • Flexible script adapted to the venue and audience
  • Live performance during dinner
  • Materials for the offering
  • Integration with food service (dessert as the narrative prize)

What you take home

  • Laughter, collaboration and a shared moment of respect for the environment
  • A dinner that becomes a ritual memory
  • Dessert released as a symbolic act of reconciliation

History and culture in every scene

As in all our experiences, the hosts' dialogue and the event's activities are written with real information about Mexican history and culture. You have fun and, without even noticing, you learn. The hosts explain the origin and meaning of the legend or tradition, and where the symbols, rituals and customs that appear during the night come from.

Format and customization

“The Alux Union” is one of our immersive theater productions. We can adapt it to your venue, group size, menu and language, as a private event or on dates open to the public.
