The story
Official history called her a traitor; others called her a victim; some preferred to call her nothing at all… and use her. This experience doesn't aim to acquit or condemn her in advance: it forces you to decide.
During a ritual dinner you hear fragmented, contradictory testimonies and the voices missing from textbooks: the echo of the empire, the weight of the conquest and the silence of women without options. The question isn't whether Malinalli was guilty, but whether you have the right to judge her.
How it works
Guests listen, question Malinalli and the Judge directly, and deliberate between courses.
At the end, each juror votes with a white stone (innocent) or a black one (guilty). The collective verdict closes the night.
The characters
- Malinalli: interpreter, woman and symbol; tells her side of the story.
- The Judge: cold and relentless; represents neither Spain nor Indigenous peoples, but history written by the victors.
What's included
- 4-course dinner with pre-Hispanic and colonial ingredients
- Two live hosts
- Guests can question the characters directly
- Jury kit (white stone and black stone)
- Historical context without editorializing
- Symbolic staging
What you take home
- A new, more human look at a controversial figure
- Shared debate and reflection
- The productive discomfort of judging the past from the present
History and culture in every scene
As in all our experiences, the hosts' dialogue and the event's activities are written with real information about Mexican history and culture. You have fun and, without even noticing, you learn. The characters share real facts, dates and anecdotes from Mexican history; the fiction is there to make those facts stick.
