The Fall of Tenochtitlan: “Moctezuma's Banquet”

A theatrical dinner set in 1519: Moctezuma hosts a diplomatic banquet for Hernán Cortés. You dine as Aztec nobility while the world cracks apart around you.

The story

Every dish is a symbol, every word a veiled threat and every silence an omen. As you dine as a Mexica noble, priest or eagle warrior, you learn the Aztec worldview, the culture clash, the manipulation of prophecies and the war brewing between bites.

In the end, nothing will be the same: not the city, not the gods, not you.

How it works

Each guest receives an identity — eagle warrior, priest or noble — with a symbolic role. It opens with an invocation to Huitzilopochtli and Quetzalcóatl, and each course introduces a historical moment: mutual wonder, the prophecies, seduction and the omen of war.

The lighting shifts from gold to smoke, from order to chaos. In the final revelation, each guest discovers their historical fate.

The characters

  • Moctezuma: tlatoani and interpreter of the gods, trapped between prophecy and power.
  • Hernán Cortés: a strategist and elegant liar who smiles while calculating the fall of an empire.

What's included

  • 3-course pre-Hispanic fusion dinner
  • Ceremonial cacao drink
  • Two professional hosts
  • Dramatized historical script

What you take home

  • A deep understanding of the culture clash
  • Historical empathy: not good vs. evil, but incompatible worlds
  • The feeling of having lived the end of a world over dinner

History and culture in every scene

As in all our experiences, the hosts' dialogue and the event's activities are written with real information about Mexican history and culture. You have fun and, without even noticing, you learn. The characters share real facts, dates and anecdotes from Mexican history; the fiction is there to make those facts stick.
